Beds Buying Guide

We spend a third of our life sleeping, therefore it’s vital your bed provides you with the best possible night’s sleep. Recharging those batteries after a long hard day is essential for brain development, growth and weight control; a good night’s sleep can also improve your moods and relationships.

We advise all our customers that the bed must suit their requirements and ensure they are relaxed when sleeping. Secondly, it has to fit in with your bedroom’s design therefore purchasing the correct bed is essential.

Different Types of Beds

At FADS, we offer different types of beds including Faux Leather, Wooden, Gloss and Fabric - all of which offer a different style to suit your requirements and can be maintained differently.

Leather Beds

Leather beds are contemporary and provide a fashion statement; they can change the look of any bedroom. The most popular leather beds are brown, black and white, all of which will give your bedroom a dramatic edge.

Wooden Beds

At FADS.co.uk we stock a wide range of wooden beds, but the most popular colours are oak and walnut. Oak is a great choice for a classically styled bedroom, but we’ve seen walnut beds rising in popularity. As walnut is a much darker wood than oak, we think that it most suits a larger bedroom; dark wood can make a smaller space feel a bit enclosed.

Gloss Beds

Funky, fresh and modern – that is probably the best way to describe gloss beds. White gloss beds will certainly create an eye-catching look in your bedroom, while black beds tend to be used to create a more masculine feel. Surround with modern bedroom furniture to further complement your gloss bed, creating clean-lined polish in your room.

Fabric Beds

Similar to leather beds, fabric beds offer a contemporary look which can transform the space in your bedroom. Grey, brown or mink colours all provide a soothing, neutral colour palette; perfect to create a relaxed and low-key ambiance.

Is Storage Required?

Ottoman beds or beds with drawers are perfect for people who have limited space in their bedroom or home. Such items are ideal for storing bed sheets, luggage, spare clothing and anything else that you need keep out of sight. Ottoman beds can lift up at the front or side, while beds with drawers are usually placed at the side. When purchasing beds with drawers, make sure you have enough space around the bed to open the drawers at the side or front.

Measuring Up

At FADS.co.uk all our products detail the bed dimensions within the product description and most of our beds are compatible with UK mattresses, unless otherwise stated. You can also measure your bed area using a tape measure or place newspaper sheets in the area of your bed so you can visualize the bed in situ. An old trick but one that always works!

How to Care For Your Bed?

Caring for your new furniture is essential and we advise gently using a soft dry cloth to reduce any dirt or marks on your bed. If necessary, use a damp cloth. Avoid using yellow dusters as they contain abrasive fibres which can harm your bed.

Assembly

All of our beds arrive flat-packed, which makes them much easier to steer towards your bedroom! Beds are packed in several boxes containing the headboard & footboard, side panels and fixing bolts, so before you begin it’s a good idea to unpack and lay all parts out on the floor. All beds include assembly instructions however the headboard is the focus of any assembly as the side rails must connect to the headboard with the footboard connecting to your side rails. Once the bed is complete you can then insert your slats.

Points To Consider

Beds are very important investments, so ensure you purchase the correct bed size to fit your designated area and that you are happy with your purchase.
